How Do I Bid?

Rentzel’s utilizes both internet and live bidding for many of their sales to allow a large array of buyers to be able to participate in sales. We primarily uses the HiBid platform due to its ease of use and reliability. Here is a rough overview of how to register and bid on our auctions.

1. Create a HiBid Account

  1. Go to our HiBid Website
  2. Click “Sign In / Create Account” (top center).
  3. Select “Create New Account.”
  4. Fill in:
    • Name, email, phone number
    • Username & password
    • Address (used for billing/shipping)
  5. Agree to terms and submit.

👉 You’ll receive a verification email—click the link to activate your account.

2. Register for a Specific Auction

HiBid requires separate approval for each auction (important).

  1. Browse our current auction.
  2. Click an auction you’re interested in.
  3. Hit “Register to Bid.”
  4. Enter:
    • Credit/debit card (for verification or payment)
    • Agree to that auction’s terms.

3. Understand Key Auction Terms

Before bidding, always check:

  • Buyer’s Premium (extra % added to your bid)
  • Sales Tax
  • Pickup/Shipping details

4. How to Bid

There are two main ways:

A. Max Pre Bidding

  • Recommended for live sales when lots can close very quickly
  • Enter max bid and confirm
  • HiBid automatically increases your bid in increments to keep you in the lead
  • You’ll be notified if you’re outbid

B. Live Bidding

  • Make sure you are registered and approved in the auction
  • Ensure you are in the “Live Bidding” and not following in the catalog
  • Follow along with the live auction and bid accordingly

Tip: Lots can end very quickly, so make sure to bid fast

6. Winning & Payment

If you win:

  1. You’ll get an invoice via email on the Monday Following the auction and an email from “Shipping Saint” regarding pickup/shipment for any items won
  2. Payment is at pickup or before items are shipped
  3. Follow pickup/shipping instructions carefully

7. Pro Tips (Important)

  • Always read the lot description and photos carefully (items are sold as-is)
  • Check pickup times—missing them can mean losing your item
  • Factor in:
    • Buyer’s premium
    • Tax
    • Shipping
